Mockups – Administration Settings
Goal: Create a flexible framework that can allow for growth with multiple pages while not overwhelming the user.
The SaaS product we worked on had a lot of customizability which was both a strength and a weakness. A user being able to tune what they see is gold standard, however, when you have an overwhelming amount of customizability it can quickly become too much of a cognitive load. When working through the Administration Settings we were focused on two things, scanability and information architecture. This particular feature had over 20 user stories at 3pts or above. Story had a similar mockup structure.
Global Settings Page
- All users had access to this page
Administrator View – Navigation Setup
Only Administrators had access to this page.
Engineering Support
- Mockups for engineering.
Callouts for specific stories
- These types of callouts are heavily influence by previous work experience when working with mechanical engineers on large, complicated projects. When introducing them to the software engineering team they liked that it directed them to the exact thing they needed to work on within the story. Or calling out that something would be taken care of in a different story. Helping them to prioritize what was being seen on screen.
