A year in the life of…
Overview
The community site was their first yearlong project. Standard web design process, information discovery, spec development, wireframes, mockups, and development. When launched, engagement spiked, and we truly started to form a community of our users and employees. In total, we designed out 14 individual WordPress template designs for a handful of post types along with several individual page designs.

Discovery
Pain Point: Our documentation lived on an outdated wiki type repository that customers could not easily find our documentation. Documentation was an accumulation of 30-years worth of software and hardware development.
We had to divide and conquer as the repository well over 10k pieces of documentation for several different products. This required a massive amount of document sorting and information architecture. On top of that, we had to design for three distinct audiences, IT personnel, teachers, and our internal employees.

Workshopping
While working with key stakeholders and going through user testing, we iterated various aspects of the learning management system (LME/VLE). I did several rounds of best practice research on the features most used by services that were already well established. We polled our members and potential users on products already in market to help establish direction and usability.
